Lincolnshire Automobile Club

Annual Report of the Committee 1931

           Back

Your committee have pleasure in reporting that following the considerable increase of membership during the last two years, a further 63 members have been elected during 1931, although slightly less than last year and bearing in mind the drastic economy in practice, it may be considered satisfactory.

It does not seem to be generally known to motorists that membership of the County Club carries with it all the benefits of Associateship of the R.A.C. direct together with numerous additional benefits provided by the County Club out of its accumulated funds, and members are particularly requested to place this fact before their motoring friends and thus assist in adding further strength to the county organisation. Again, it is often thought that outside the County of Lincolnshire there is no effect, yet wherever there is a R.A.C. Guide he is as much at the service of the Lincolnshire Club Member as if the Associateship was direct from London . Thus the member can travel throughout the United Kingdom and rely upon ready service and assistance everywhere.

Your Committee have been carefully keeping in view the Skegness Speedway Scheme and is open to assist as far as possible when it is sufficiently developed to ensure success. The Club have already distributed forms of application for Associateship of the Association for the benefit of those wishing to obtain the preliminary advantages offered.

Continental Touring has not been so fully patronised as in the previous year reviewed but a number of examinations have been carried out and the members supplied with International Driving Passes, Routes etc.

Attention of the members is called to the arrangements made for the Gainsborough Bridge to be freed from a toll from April 1st next, this will be appreciated as a definite advantage to Motorists generally throughout the County as it covers the main route to the West and North.

The arrangements for the entertainment of the members at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s Show at Lincoln in June last were entirely successful and a large number took advantage of the facilities provided in the Marquee and Car park.
