Lincolnshire Automobile Club

Annual Report of the Committee 1932

           Back

During the year just passed the club had the accession of 58 new members as against 63 in 1931. But there were 9 resignations and the loss of 6 members by decease and 28 whose subscriptions have lapsed thus the club, although feeling the effect of the present depression as the losses as shown under the different headings is maintaining its strength and will undoubtedly show much more rapid progress when general conditions improve.

The Club undertook negotiations with the R.A.C. with the object of obtaining a lower rate of affiliation upon small car members and Family Associate Members but without success, the object  being to enable the Club to fall into line with the parent body by establishing these two classes but the R.A.C. after giving the matter close and careful attention found that for financial reasons it was not possible owing to the Associate Class being heavily subsidised already through the county Clubs.

The arrangements made for the convenience of the members at the County Agricultural Show is shown to have been very successful from the fact that the largest number of members on record having attended. 211 members availed themselves of the free parking and 640 teas were served in the Marquee.

The Club has had no further news of progress by the Automobile Racing Association and the scheme for the building of a Race Track at Skegness is still apparently “In embryo”.

The benefits of membership appear to be making steady progress throughout the County, as it is pleasing to note the increased number of applicants at the instance and recommendation of private members.

The suggestions and recommendations of the club to the Local Authorities throughout the County continue to be received with great courtesy.
