Lincolnshire Automobile Club

Annual Report of the Committee 1933

           Back

During the year under review, the club has had an influx of 62 new members as against 58 in 1932 and 63 in 1931 but there have been 12 resignations and a number of deaths and lapses of subscription without notice, the situation is best judged by the amount of income from subscription, which this year shows an increase of £82 2s 6d as against 1932 which very conclusively proves that in spite of the difficult times, the club continues to show definite progress.

The committee have had under particular consideration the situation which arose in the Grimsby district in consequence of the discharge by the R.A.C. of their resident Guide. This man had been of considerable use to the club in the service of our members in that area and following the Committee’s protest a visit was received from one of the principal officials of the R.A.C. in June last. An arrangement was arrived at, which was hoped would prove of mutual advantage but experience has shown it to be of little assistance. In view of this fact, your Committee will again review the matter as it is necessary to be assured that the Grimsby area members, who number 192, shall have ample and satisfactory service.

Your Committee approached the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire upon the subject of the unsatisfactory adjustment of rear reflectors on pedal cycles and the danger accruing therefrom both to the riders and motorists generally, which resulted in a general warning being issued throughout the County.

The arrangements made for the comfort and entertainment of the members at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Show at Boston appear to have been much appreciated although the numbers attending were not so great as on previous occasions.
