Your committee have the honour of reporting the work of the past year ending December 31st.
During the year the club had an influx of 30 new members as against 62 in 1933 and 10 resignations as against 12 of the previous year, together with several losses through death and lapses of subscription without notice.
In the last year’s review, the committee reported a tentative arrangement arrived at with the R.A.C. with the object of preventing cross canvassing and the Guides were provided with the Club’s literature and an experimental period was arranged from July 1933 for twelve months. At the time of the last report the Committee expressed doubt of the ultimate success of the arrangement and later it was found that the doubt was fully justified as only seven new members were enrolled during the full year from the whole force of Guides in the County. Your committee therefore submitted to an extraordinary meeting of the members held at the Gainsborough Show, a resolution to reduce the annual subscription to the old figure of 1½ guineas. This action was taken as it was definitely apparent that the R.A.C were not prepared to give the assistance necessary to maintain the club's status but that there was a definite competition by the parent body, which was clearly against the club's interests.
The resolution was carried unanimously and the subscription
was reduced to the new figure as from
Your Committee have taken this step with confidence that it will be supported by the members, who by the introduction of their friends and acquaintances will secure the very considerable increase of subscriptions necessary to maintain the finances of the Club.
The Committee communicated with the Police Authorities with regard to the dangerous practice of cyclists riding two and three abreast upon the highway and a general warning was issued throughout the County by the Chief Constable.
A large number of members and their friends took advantage of the arrangements for the convenience at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Show at Gainsborough, when free parking was provided, and the service of tea in the Club’s Marquee, the extra provision of a Snack Bar appears to have been fully appreciated.
