Lincolnshire Automobile Club

Annual Report of the Committee 1939

           Back

Your Committee beg to report as follows,

The number of new members elected during the year ending December 31st 1939 was 33 and resignations 24, most of the resignations being received since the outbreak of the War and are due more particularly to restriction of Petrol supplies which has resulted in many cars being laid up, many members thus retired have expressed their intention of rejoining at the termination of hostilities.

The usual facilities were arranged by the club at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s Show at Bourne in June and were taken advantage of by a good number of the members although the attendance was rather less than usual, owing to the unfavourable weather conditions, it is however evident that the fixture still remains a popular one and much appreciated by the members generally.

The projected rally had to be abandoned at Skegness owing to restrictions introduced by the Skegness Council at a date too late for the Committee to make any alternative arrangements.

It is a matter of regret that owing to the almost central enlistment of the R.A.C. personnel, very few of the Scouts remain for Road Service. The Committee have arranged however to distribute the monthly News paragraphs issued by the R.A.C as these contain useful information of legal and technical matters affecting the members.

The extension of the “get you home” service to cases where members are stranded owing to lack of petrol will it is felt be much appreciated.

The visit of your Chairman and secretary to the Annual Associate’s Meeting in May last and the subsequent interview with the officials gave evidence of considerable cordiality towards the Lincolnshire Club and its many years of service to motorists.
