The Chairman opened the meeting with expression of regret that the club had suffered through the passing of the President, Sir Hickman B.Bacon, Bart and the Honorary Secretary Major A.E. Brunning, during the past year, and the meeting stood for one minutes silence in tribute.

The acting secretary was asked to read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were read and confirmed.  There were no matters arising out of the minutes.

Statement of Accounts.

A statement of accounts was laid before the meeting which was moved by Mr.Leven and seconded by Mr G. Harniess.

The Chairman then stated that it had been difficult to get out a report and again referred to the passing of the Hon. Secretary, which gave some considerable difficulty, and he felt that under pressure of business etc., he could not carry out the position of Chairman and Secretary. After having thought over the matter carefully he decided to ask some kind friend to come forward and act as Hon. Secretary, and after quite a lot of persuasion, Mr R.C. Bellamy had kindly come forward to take the position.

An apology was put forward for the meeting being held so late this year.

Membership

The Chairman said that our thanks are due to those members who retained membership during the war, and it was hoped that those which had elapsed would be renewed forthwith.

The Chairman then stated that during the war the membership of the club fell to 173, but that he was pleased to be able to report that since the coming of peace the club had received many applications for entry into the club, and he sincerely hoped that every member of the club would do their utmost to increase the membership. The Chairman then stated that as the R.A.C. had raised its affiliation fee it had been necessary to increase the fee of the Lincolnshire Auto Club to £2.2s.0d.

The Chairman then pointed out that there was great esprit de corps in the club and that personally he had made and become good friends with many people by attending club events which possibly he would not have made had he not been a member.

Lincolnshire Agricultural Show

The Chairman stated that arrangements were in hand to provide again free parking this year for club members at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s Show at Blankney, in June, and it was proposed to have a Marquee in which refreshments would be served. He stated that the club were up against difficulties, but it is believed, that with a little help, we should be able to supply light refreshments for members attending the County Show .

The Chairman said that it was hoped that petrol restrictions would be taken off when the club will then have a unique opportunity of increasing its membership, and it was hoped that all members would rally round the Committee and see that the number of over 400 before the war is increased and make this club the finest County Club in the Country.

The Chairman stated that the matter had been considered and the committee recommended that Sir Archibald Weigall be elected President. This was proposed by Mr. Harniess of Louth and seconded by Mr. Leven.

Election of Vice President
