The committee have pleasure in presenting the Annual report and Balance Sheet.
The past year of the club is marked by no particularly notable events from the motorist’s standpoint, but only by steady progress in strength and numbers. The present membership being 255, of which 41 were elected during the year, and the club has lost 15 from death and resignation.
The committee at the request of the Royal Automobile Club, arranged to carry out the administrative work, in this area for the proposed national Fuel Consumption Trials in May last, and considerable expense was incurred in advertising the event, which was subsequently cancelled owing to lack of entries.
A committee was appointed to arrange a summer Programme for the entertainment of the members, and a meet was arranged with the Leicestershire Club at Belvoir castle on July 16th. At this Meet 10 cars only attended and owing to the lack of interest exhibited, the Committee decided that further expense in arranging other fixtures was not justified.
Your committee have kept in close touch with the new Roads Classification under the Ministry of Transport, and have made various recommendations for the marking of danger points which have been acceded to and signs duly erected.
The members will have noted the large amount of work that has been carried out in road repairs throughout the county during the past year. The improvement is most marked, and the general condition will shortly, we hope, be quite satisfactory. Your committee have made various representations to the Authorities with regard to certain important sections where the repairs have appeared to be unduly delayed. It is satisfactory to note that the Authorities continue to deal gradually with awkward and dangerous corners; these matters it is intended to keep in constant view.
Various claims have been made under the Legal Defence and "Get You Home" Scheme of the R.A.C., all of which have been satisfactorily settled.
Your committee hope to have the support of all its members during the coming year in securing the increase of its membership by the accession of their motorist friends. Arrangements are being made for the provision of suitable garage accommodation at the Lincoln and Doncaster Race Meetings, at special rates. It is also proposed to arrange for free garage and a special Marquee for refreshments at The Lincolnshire Agricultural Show, to be held at Skegness in July next and further arrangements of a social nature can be arranged, if the desire of the members is expressed and support is forthcoming.
The Motor Cycle Section of the Club has had an active and successful year, seven events have been organised, one of which was an Open Speed Trial, under the aegis of the A.C.U., was held in Grimsthorpe Park (by the kind permission of the Right Hon. The Earl of Ancaster), on March 28th (Easter Monday). The event was very successful, there were 53 riders and 214 entries, divided into 20 classes, the fastest time of the day being 96.88 m.p.h., by Mr G.Dance, riding a 3½ h.p. Velocette. The remainder of the fixtures arranged were successful without exception, and thoroughly well organised. The motor Cycle Section has been both vigorous and popular throughout the period.
